What’s the deal with that critical voice in our head telling us we aren’t good enough? Saying we don’t deserve what we want? It’s not helping us achieve goals or stay motivated. In fact, if left unchecked, it’s damn near destructive.
Here are 3 quick steps to change your mindset:
1. Acknowledge the voice – recognizing it is the first step to fixing it.
2. Remind yourself of your strength and capabilities.
3. Switch the narrative. I like to think about what I would say to a friend if I caught them saying the same negative things about themselves. For example: replace “I’ll never get in shape” with something like “I may struggle at times, but I am moving everyday and working towards my fitness goals.”
